Me, Myself and the Winter Olympics
Me and a girl continue our joint writing project. Since it is February, we are avoiding love and going straight to the Olympics.
Do you love the Winter Olympics?
I was lukewarm until the whole Kerrigan/trashy girl controversy a dozen or so years ago. What was her name??? Tonya Harding. Or is it Tanya?
Anyway.
Would it be a little TMI if I told you that Tech Support has a thing for figure skaters? Not those two. Much cuter ones.
And yet, he ended up with me, whose ass is still frozen from my last attempt six years ago.
I don’t get into the whole Olympic Ceremony thing. Countries parading around, although I really respect the determination that it takes to get to be the best of the best at anything. I am missing that component. I am good with being really good.
One thing I do find interesting about the Olympics, Winter in particular is all of the weird games people dedicate their lives to, like shuffle board on ice. Maybe I can see a couple of kids in the back yard making it up and playing it for a week, but to know there are people in the world who live, eat and breathe it? Wow.
Now, give me some bob-sled action or down hill skiing, I could get into that too. I am sensing a bit of a violent streak here. It’s OK I scheduled therapy for myself already.
So, tune in on Friday and let the games begin.
ps – if you are looking for a medal count, you won’t find it here. Unless there is some sort of Michael Phelps type dude that we all rally around and then freak out when we find out he likes to smoke pot when he’s with his friends and not in training.

DUDE, that shuffle board on ice is called Curling and involves an enormous marble chunk and brooms from your kitchen closet. Seriously, when I moved to Wisconsin I made the mistake of laughing hysterically when I saw it being done and ’bout got beat up! Curling is sophisticated, intellectual business! Very complex and precision based! Really!

So sophisticated they’ll beat you up for laughing at it? I find it ridiculous to spend so much time thinking about an obscure sport. Well, gotta go play a round of disc golf. Bye.
